Hello, This is a blog for IT & Telecom Tools Developers (from simple Excel macros to complete systems to Network Analysis). And, as we known, the focus of these tools is to improve the productivity of processes such as optimization, design, analysis, KPI, etc. That is, you get to know the best practices in the IT & Telecom area. Here you can learn new things - it all depends on your need or desire and, following the written free content of each tutorial.

Custom Tools for Telecom (MS Access, VBA, Google Earth): Download Presentation

Hunter FTP Client (using Access, Excel e VBA)

Hunter Converter - Addresses to KML (Google Earth Coordinates)

Hunter xFilter – Customized Excel Filter based on Cell Typed Value

Hunter Performance - Live Report - KPI Summary (via Email)

How you can build a 'FTP Client' application using Excel, Access and VBA.

The conversion of Coordinates to Addresses is an issue that arouses interest from many areas, not just Telecom.

Using the Hunter Methodology, we always seek to improve efficiency in our work, as creating a custom filter in Microsoft Excel, facilitating user interactivity with traditional ways of applying filters and criteria in a list. There's no doubt the main objective of Telecommunications Engineers is to get the best possible performance of the system, in terms of Call Quality, Dropped and Block Rates, QoS and Data Speed, Availability of the Network or any other indicator...

Hunter Mapbasic Tool - GSM Frequency Plan and Neighbors Analisys

Hunter Updater - Mapinfo Network Cells (Mapbasic Tool)

Hunter Performance - KPI Base Tables

Hunter Performance - KPI Parser and Importer

Get to know today and Download a Mapinfo Tool (Mapbasic) for GSM Frequency Plan and Neighbor List Analysis! Today we see how to automatically Update Data for Tools (Prediction, Test Drive, etc. ...) and other types of Databases using updated Network Data already available in our System. Moving forward in the creation of our entire System for our Network Monitoring and Analysis, today we'll see the next step: defining the KPI Base Tables. Network Performance Monitoring is certainly one of the most important activity in the daily work for all people involved. So we're beginning today several tutorials related to Performance / KPI, this big challenge, whatever the area of Telecom & IT.  When we improve Performance...

Hunter GE Network (Application)

Hunter GE Drive Test (Application)

Hunter Parameters (Schema)

One of the most important tasks for the efficient control of a network is to ensure that all of its configuration parameters (GSM, UMTS, LTE ...) are properly adjusted. And for that we can rely on a simple and powerful tool. With the plot of the network information (sites and cells) in a geo-referenced way, we can greatly benefit from an easier and more intuitive visualization of it, and it also helps identify problems such as misdirected cells (azimuths). After several tutorials to familiarize with the Hunter methodology, let's continue now with more practical applications, ready to use on a daily basis. One of the keys to the success of all activities of the Network is to collect all information of the configuration parameters (GSM, UMTS, LTE ...) on a single and updated database.

Quick Notes

Hunter GE Operators

Let's talk today about organization, especially the documentation of sites in a cellular network. Quite simply, let's see how this information can work to our advantage. How to use macros in Excel and Access to gather information from all sites of other carriers in one place, serving as excellent support both for coverage evaluation of competitor as well as a source of information for possible sharing requests. A very simple practice to improve the efficiency of daily work. The idea though simple, yields results that you will find over time. We show how to use macros in Excel and Access to gather information from all sites of other carriers in one place, serving as excellent support resource.

New Forum

Mapinfo KPI

Hunter KPI (Base Tables)

Hunter GE Drive Test (Best Server)

So today we'll learn a new feature available on our website: The Forums! We can plot the data of the KPI's thematically in Mapinfo. Furthermore, the data can be exported to images that can be used in other reports. Let's see how. Today we want to learn this concept. Access is a database and its main function as the database is to collect data for reporting periods. Let us learn here accumulate data KPI whenever we make a load (import) data for our database. Besides the plot ranges from thematic (color), we can plot individual information in Google Earth. This applies for example to better maps server, where each sector has a different value - and we have a large number of sectors! Let's see how.

Hunter Interface

Hunter KPI

KPI Intro

Hunter GE Drive Test (signal level)

From a very simple way, learn to build interfaces that help us interact with data among various Hunter Modules. Access is a database and its main function as the database is to collect data for reporting periods. We learn here accumulate data KPI whenever we make a load (import) data for our database. The main goal of our system is to improve the network, and this is seen through the KPI - Key Performance Indicators. Examples of KPI's are traffic, dropped calls, etc.. Drive Test data can also be plotted on Google Earth from the data in Text or Excel format. This module shows how to do this automatically, and plots according to a range of colors that can configure.

Hunter GE Network (Multi-Tech)

Hunter Mail

Hunter Mapbasic PlotSector (Petals)

Digital Data

At this point, we'll include more than one technology in our network, i.g. GSM & UMTS or CDMA. Then see how to plot this information in the same file. A very nice feature to have in Access (and any other program that uses VBA) is to send reports using via e-mail. Let's learn how to do it, and how to send reports formatted for a specific list of people. Here we learn a little more of Mapbasic. How to draw sectors as regions - petals - instead of lines like we did before. You can't work with Telecom & IT without using Data (altimetry, clutter, vectors…).. When using programs like Google Earth, this kind of information comes with it, but for other GIS programs such as prediction tools or Mapinfo, we need to get it.

Drive Test - Mapinfo & Google Earth

Hunter Mapinfo Network VBA Automation

Mapinfo Network

Hunter GE Network (Legend - Folder - Info)

A great use of Mapinfo and Google Earth is to plot of Test Drive - data collected. Get a introduction to what a drive test is, and learn how to plot drive test data. Our first module with Mapinfo (MI). Mapinfo has a programming language - Mapbasic. We will see what it can do to help us later, but today we'll learn that we can use Mapbasic through VBA! Quick Overview of Mapinfo. Learn some useful tips from this great tool, and how to use it in Network Analysis. One powerful tool for geo-referencing, and also widely used by Telecom & IT Professionals. Another improvement of GE Network module - we'll learn how to get information by clicking the end (point) of a sector, showing important data as azimuth, tilts and aerials.

Hunter GE Network (Sectors)

Hunter GE Network (Sites)

Hunter Network

Concepts and Definitions

We continue extending GE Network Module, now including the lines of the sectors. Also a few more concepts of Access. Note: You can create symbols such as petals to represent the sectors, instead of rows - and we'll still do it. First module that interacts with Google Earth (referred as GE). From the Network module, we will see how to plot the information from sites with that fantastic tool for geo-referencing studies. Thus we proceeded to the first module of Hunter Tool. It will serve as an important basis for several other applications. Here we learn how to store information from our network sites on a professional manner. We start with a general introduction to the methodology, and the system - Hunter Tool - that will be created and developed together.

Hunter Converter - Addresses to KML (Google Earth Coordinates)

Monday, December 19, 2011 11:21:00 AM
The conversion of Coordinates to Addresses is an issue that arouses interest from many areas, not just Telecom.   //   And one reason is that this mapping is increasingly present in our day-to-day, for example when we receive a list of Addresses, and we need to make such a coverage analysis at each point. There are several ways to obtain this conversion from a manual to fully automated type. But when we don't have a standard procedure to obtain these data, we ended up wasting a... read more
